Plus size clothing will fit differently than missy sizes. This is because women's plus size clothing are not just cut bigger but are proportioned to a womens curvy figure. Usually, the fit model used for plus size apparel wears a size 18W. She is about 5'10" in height. Her has a "43-46" bust measurement, a 33"-36" waist and 45"-48" hips.

While traditional missy sizes have a 1" difference between sizes, plus sizes generally have a 2" difference. Many women's brands indicate the plus size or women's sizes with a W after the number. Depending on the brand, sizes can run from 14W up into the 30's.

Some clothing brands will extend their line with extended sizes. These pieces are still based on the size 8 fit model and will fit smaller than plus sized clothing. Any may not address the needs of a curvier figure. Extended womens sizes can be size 16 up to a size 24. There is usually a 1 1/2" in sizes.

Today, even some junior clothing brands are adding plus sizes to the assortments. Since junior sizes are designed for a less developed figure, these pieces may solve a fit issue for an early teen.
