My Clothing Color Wheel

Color me beautiful clothing

Determining your personal clothing color wheel is not as hard as your think. In fact, it is said that as children, we are naturally drawn to the colors that look best on us. Environmental influences such as fashion trends or our mom (especially if her coloring is different) may lead us astray. But even as adults, we have an innate ability to choose our own complimentary colors.

If you stop to think about the colors that you wear that bring you the most compliments, these are probably the colors that are right for you. These are the colors we look best in and as a result, we can look younger, better proportioned, and feel better about ourselves.

Finding my clothing color wheel.

First let's narrow down the rainbow a bit. I've named the different clothing color wheels Bold, Pastel, Natural, and Bright. Their names are very descriptive and give you an idea of the colors which make up each color wheel. From the four groups below, which do you feel look the best on you - or more importantly, which group tends to bring you the most compliments.

Bold
Black, Pure White, Cobalt, Fuchsia, Red

Pastel
Navy, Off White, Powder Blue, Rose Pink, Lavender

Natural
Coffee, Wheat, Turquoise, Lime, Pumpkin

Bright
Camel, Ivory, Periwinkle, Aqua, Coral

The Bold Color Wheel are primary colors in their strongest form and true blends that are derived from them. And just like it's colors, this clothing color wheel will look best on women of sharp contrast and extremes. They may have blue-black hair, pink pale skin and gray-blue eyes or the exotic look of olive skin. They may have the striking look of salt and pepper hair or even silvery gray. This color wheel is made up of clear, vibrant (bold) colors like true red, hot pink, emerald green, and turquoise. The icy tones of these same colors also fit into this color wheel.

The Pastel Color Wheel are clear colors tinted with white to soften the tone. These colors will look best on women who have a natural softness in their coloring. Their hair can be blonde to dark brown hair but will have ash highlights. Their eyes can be bright, clear blue to soft brown. This clothing color wheel has a wide range of shades in blues, pinks, and purples to enhance a wardrobe and does not include any of the sharp contrasts of the Bold Color Wheel.

The Natural Color Wheel takes its colors from the natural blending of nature. This color wheel looks best on brunettes with golden or red highlights and eyes that range from amber to brown and from pale green to hazel. For this color wheel think in shades of earth - the golden yellow of the sun to the dusty orange-red of a terra cotta pot and the dark red skin of a tomato. Picture the lime green of new spring leaves to the jade green and turquoise of the Caribbean sea.

The Bright Color Wheel has clear colors with golden undertones producing a warmed look. These colors look best on golden blondes to fiery redheads with blue and green shade eyes. The neutrals for this clothing color wheel are brown tones rather than black - from ivory to camel. Unlike the hot, vibrant colors of the Bold Color Wheel, this color wheel is formed with light, clear, bright colors. From the warm side of the wheel with apricot, coral, and bright red to the cool side with periwinkle, true blue and bright aqua, these colors give life to the wearer.

Determining your personal clothing color wheel will help you make the most of your coloring and enhance your natural beauty. And building your wardrobe around a specific color wheel will allow you to build a wardrobe that works best for you. Clothing items that all work together will provide a mix and match wardrobe - expanding your options tremendously.
